I arrived in Ísafjörður six years ago. It was initially intended to be a short-term project to construct avalanche barriers on one of the mountains in the town. The project went incredibly well, and the barriers have been standing, protecting the neighborhood below ever since. However, the local culture and the surrounding nature made me contemplate staying in the region for a bit longer. I received an offer to assist the town in managing the local ski area, which I accepted, and it has become my primary occupation during the winter. A year later, the greatest treasure of my life was born here in Ísafjörður. This event made the region feel even more like home. My love for arctic nature seems to grow alongside my daughter, and I feel blessed to witness her experiencing it alongside me.
During my free time, you can find me ski touring in the mountains or surfing in the ocean. I am someone who prefers to spend as much time outdoors as possible, which led me to choose a profession as an outdoor guide. In the summertime, I work for a company called Borea Adventures, which is also our partner in the wakeboarding project.
I remember driving and gazing at the ocean and the mountains some time ago. The snow conditions were unstable for snowboarding, and there were no waves in the ocean. Nevertheless, it was a lovely day with no wind, and nature was beckoning for an activity. I pondered how I could ride my board in such conditions and remembered wakeboarding. It used to be a sport I greatly enjoyed, but I wondered how I could pursue it here in the Westfjords. I contemplated building a wake park or acquiring a boat to start with. Were there other options, I wondered? I desired a dynamic experience, enjoying a sport in various water sources. After extensive research, I discovered an option: using a portable winch. This device would pull me in any water source where it could be installed. I obtained the necessary equipment and began testing it. We had an immense amount of fun and enjoyed ourselves while exploring spot after spot for wakeboarding, venturing into locations untouched by water sports before.
Finally, we reached the point where we could share these experiences with others. We now offer a few tours at the locations we found the most exciting and enjoyable. If you have something specific in mind, please don't hesitate to send an email, and we can discuss what we can do. See you in the water!
